Sited on the Will Roger’s Memorial Center campus in Fort Worth’s Cultural District, the new Dickies Arena hosts the annual Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, providing additional seating and premium amenities compared to the existing facility. The 560,000 SF Dickies Arena is complimented by a 156,000 SF livestock support building that adjoins at the event level. A 215,000 SF landscaped plaza sits above the event level and livestock facilities, with excellent views of the Will Roger’s campus and downtown Fort Worth.
The Dickies Arena’s facades incorporate Southwest Art Deco elements, chosen to relate the building to the 1930s era buildings on the Will Roger’s campus. The primary materials – brick and stone – are complimented with tile mosaics and metal grille work incorporating Fort Worth iconography around the building. The seating bowl is capped off with a cupola that is lit from within.
Beyond the much beloved Stock Show & Rodeo, Dickies Arena is designed to host hockey, family shows, NCAA regulation basketball tournaments and concerts. Its flexible, three-level seating bowl provides 9,000 seats for rodeo, with capacity increasing to 14,000 for center stage concerts. Dickies Arena includes two premium entertainment clubs located near the north and south entrances, two party suites, 36 suites, 32 loge boxes, arena rigging to accommodate modern entertainment shows, 75 concession points of sale and the latest in fan entertainment and communication technology.
The new Dickies Arena is supported by a DMSAS-designed, 2,200-car parking garage along with an 85,000 SF underground, multi-purpose event and equine warm-up building, all organized on a three-acre outdoor green space plaza.
The Dickies Area project was completed through a public-private partnership between the City of Fort Worth and Event Facilities Fort Worth (EFFW), a 501c3 not-for-profit organization. Fort Worth voters approved targeted Arena funding in November of 2014 with up to 79% support.
