Gingertown Brings Building Communities Together, Sets Donation Record

  News

The 12th annual Gingertown event saw the creation on incredible coasters, fabulous food stalls and tantalizing towers. It also set a new record for money raised for our local DC charitable recipients! Gingertown builds were once again held in Washington DC, Dallas, Nashville and Atlanta.

The theme for 2017 – GingerLAND – was inspired by the great America amusement park and injected with a twist of urban planning best practices. Signature lots included the Rocky Roadsters Go-Karts, the Tic Tac Tower, Ships Ahoy Boathouse and the Sugar Plum Fairy Go-Round. Pictures of all of the builds are available on the Gingertown website and Facebook page.

This year’s build was hosted at The Bowen Building thanks to our friends at JBG Smith. After an evening of fast and furious building, the completed GingerLAND was kept on display in the building’s lobby for a week – a treat for visitors and building tenants alike.

With major thanks to our sponsors – Page, Walter P Moore and Stantec at the Santa level – we reached a new level of fundraising! Our recipients: Wendt Center, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Community of Hope, Children’s National Medical Center, and So Others Might Eat – could not be more thankful for the continued to support all of our friends in the building industry offered this year!
