Residence
The renovated Hall Residence & Winery sits atop Rutherford Hill, overlooking the Napa Valley. The goal in our design of this project was to create a simple house for entertaining and displaying a collection of modern art. The result is a low, Mediterranean style home with a series of large rooms, each with vies of the adjacent vineyard and valley below. The rooms are connected to covered porches and gardens with a series of tall, French doors that open the house completely to the outdoors.
Hall Rutherford Winery
The winery is a small, but state-of-the-art operation dedicated to making wine in small batches from the neighboring Sacrashe Vineyard. The winery was designed with custom fabricated fermentors and operates on a traditional gravity flow system. The hospitality room and outdoor tasting terraces offer stunning views of the valley and sits directly above the caves and production facility carved into the hillside. The winery has 14,000 square feet of fermentation caves that were hand finished by Friedrich Gruber of Gutenstein Austria with salvaged, handmade Austrian brick. Deep inside the caves is a large reception and tasting room showcasing and art and sculpture collection and dramatically lit by a custom fabricated chandelier.
